Review |
The new 911 is a significant automobile in the
history of the 911 because of the introduction of the water cooled engine, but... Tamiya
didn't include the engine details, so we have to wait for Italeri's 996 due the fall of
98. The problem is that Italeri is less likely to include a complete engine unit
just like their 993, which has an upper engine assembly that goes at the end of the
chassis.
The front bumper is separate, so is the rear spoiler, which can be fixed either the up
or down position. The headlight brackets are chrome plated, all the lenses are
clear. The chassis is well done, but I'm not sure if the suspension details of the
real car are as simple as the ones in the kit. The interior has some problems.
The door panels are too shallow as in their Boxster kit even though the inner door
panels are individual pieces. The radio and air conditioner details look a little
dull, too. The stick, steering column, side brake lever and gas pedal are separate
also, but the clutch and break pedals are attached to the bottom of the dashboard
part. The wheels are chrome plated, and the tires are Michelin MXX3. They are
excellent substitute for Italeri's 993 turbo kit.
Even though the kit is a curbside, we shouldn't be so disappointed since the kit of the
996 is available. |
