Pre Assembly Impression |
The champion car of the 1998 Formula 1 season was released on
July 14th. The kit is a typical Tamiya, so it shouldn't have any
problem in terms of assembly. The parts are fairly simplified for
easy assembly, but they have sufficient details. As I was examining
the reference photos, I found that the coloring of the MP4/13 is very complicated,
especially those shaded areas. I was a little disappointed in the
decals because the areas where two colors blend together aren't so fine,
and tiny dots are noticeable. I guess I have to use an airbrush to
represent the body painting. The kit features Bridgestone grooved
tires, and they are very nicely done as usual for Tamiya. It can be
left as they are for new look or sanded for an used look.
Bridgestone and Potenza logos are included. |
 The
standard Tamiya kit resents the German GP version, but they also released the
Japanese GP winner as a limited issue. The kit contains the WEST
logos and a different tree of parts to build an accurate replica from the
GP.
