1. Make a sketch
2. Scale the sketch to actual size
3. Make a life-size cardboard model
4. Disassemble the model and use the pieces as patterns for cutting sheet copper
5. Form the copper pieces into the proper 3-dimensional shape
6. Finish each component of the sculpture
7. Assemble the parts
8. Install the finished work
