2000年9月号の「トランジスタ技術」に「Ｌｉｎｕｘによるハードウェア設計・製作」と題した特集記事が組まれる。
この特集の中で小島三弘氏はＬｉｎｕｘを次のように紹介。
LinuxはLinus Torvalds氏が1991年、ヘルシンキ大学の学生だった頃に自分のIBM PC互換機上で大学のワークステーションと同じ環境を
使うために作ったUNIX互換のカーネルである。（カーネルとはOSの核となる重要なプログラム）
また、Richard Stallman氏は1983年にフリーソフトだけでOSを構築しようとしてGNUプロジェクトを開始します。（ＧＮＵはGNU is NOT UNIXの略)
Ｌｉｎｕｓ氏がＬｉｎｕｘの開発を始めた頃にはＧＮＵプロジェクトによって、コンピュータを操作する為に必要なコマンド（ユーティリティ・プログラム）の
大部分が用意されていたと言います。・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・

I succeeded to install the Plamo Linux to my old laptop computer.
It was a win95 machine with MMX133 cpu and 48MB memory, 1.35GB HDD.
Plamo Linux is a group of Slackware Linux.

CentOS 5.2 /Aug. 2008
RedHat was no longer any service.
I found CentOS is related to RedHat. So I wanted to try CentOS.
Ubuntu8.04LTS をインストールしたノートパソコンで CentOS の実験。
USB HDDを別途用意してそこに CentOS をインストール。
内臓HDD（WindowsXP）にGRUBを置くデュアルブートにトライした。
