Volkswagen New Beetle

Sometimes, it's difficult to paint the black frame of the windshields.  I used a pen and French curve to draw lines long the border and paint the rest with a brush.   

 

beetle12.jpg (33803 bytes)Tamiya provided masking tapes in the kit,  so I used one to see how it worked.  When using masking tape in general, clear paint is useful to seal the edge.  The paint prevents black paint from flowing into small gaps. 

 

beetle12.jpg (33803 bytes)This is a finished interior.  I used the airbrush to spray two tones of gray and semi gloss black.  The gauges are represented by a decal provided in the kit.  I scratchbuilt a daisy by trimming a sheet of plastic and metal rod.

 

beetle12.jpg (33803 bytes)Painting of the body is almost done.  The picture shows the body with clear over coat just before sanding and polishing processes are done.
