The doors are removed by using my favorite OLFA knife, which is like an
EXACTO, but the blade is smaller and much sharper.
Evergreen plastic sheet was
glued to fill the small gap as shown.
Once the plastic sheet
was firmly placed, I trimmed the excess to along the
edge as shown in this picture. I test fitted the door panel many times to minimize
the gap.
The
inner edge was added from inside to thicken the door frame.
Notice that I applied Gunze's Mr. Surfacer 1000 with a brush to fill the
scratches left during sanding.
Once these modifications are done,
I will polish the modified areas to recover a plastic-like surface before
priming.
A
piece of plastic was glued to the door hinge, and it was test fit as in the picture.
The plastic piece was originally oversized, and they were welded by melting plastic with strong glue. After they
were
completely dry, I trimmed the excess with a knife to represent the final
shape of the hinge.
The
inside of the body is shown. The hinges on the left side were
complete, and ready to put a metal rod through the pieces added to the back
of the door hinge.
