日本の扇絵展について

The Exhibition of Japanese Fans at the Manggha Center in Cracow
Various fan designs that are found today in the world originated from ancient Japan. It was not until modern times that they found their way to Europe through China.
In Japan, fans' were anciently called "SUEHIRO" and have long been a symbol of prosperity. Even today, fans are indispensable small items and treasures in Japanese ceremonies and festivals as well as in traditional Japanese dancing,
Fans are made primarily of materials produced in Japan: bamboo, paper and silk. The size and shape of fans are
various and this diversity adds seasonal color to the Japanese lifestyle. Unfolding a fan is opening the wonderful world that is hidden inside of a fan, as if it is looking into a kaleidoscope.
The Art Association of Japanese Pans has more than five hundred members and organizes annual exhibitions at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum and many other various places in Japan.
It is our great pleasure to have this opportunity to exhibit some of our works at the Manggha Center in Cracow. We hope that this small exhibition would introduce Japanese culture to peoples in Cracow and promote friendship between Poland and Japan.

日本の扇展

　現在世界各地にさまざまな扇がありますが、その発祥地は古代日本で、中国大陸を経由してヨーロッパにまで広まったのは近世になってからと書われています。
　古来、日本ではその末広がりの形のイメージから「末広」という愛称で呼ばれてお目出度いシンボルでした。現在でも儀式、祭礼、日本舞踊などには欠かせない重要な小道具として、大切に扱われています。
　扇の素材は窯に日本原産の竹、和紙、絹から作られていますが、大きさも形もバラエティーに富んで、日本人の四季の暮らしを彩り、愉しませています。扇を開くと、其処には素晴らしい世界が拡がります。丁度万華鏡を覗いた時と同じように。
　日本扇面芸術協会は500余名の会員を擁して、毎年東京都美術館や各地で展覧会を開催しています。
　この度、クラクフのマンガセンターで私達の扇面作品の展示をする機会を頂きました事は大きな喜びです。此のささやかな展示がクラクフの人達に日本の文化を紹介し、ポーランドと日本の友情を深める事になれば、と願っています.
