This kit was the courtesy of a local hobby store in Tokyo. I
wasn't quite interested in this particular car when I started building, but it was a nice
addition to my F-1 models.
I started inspecting the body first, then I sanded to erase the seam lines. After all
imperfections were fixed, I sprayed white, then applied the decals. The green part
was included in the decal, so the assembly work was very fast.
The body, engine and suspensions were easy to assemble, and careful detail painting turned
this kit into a very nice replica of the 120B. |
After all decals were applied, I used Testors clear top coat to
protect the decals as well as to eliminate the height gap between the body and the decals.
I sprayed five or six coats of gloss over coat, then I used Tamiya finishing papers to
smooth the surface. After that, another three or four coats of clear were applied before
the final smoothing process. When sanding was done, I used Tamiya polishing compound
and automobile wax to polish the surface until the reflection on the body appear sharply. |
Modern SLR camera allows users to take multiple pictures in a
single frame so easily. My Cannon Eos does exactly what I want as shown here. Although
lighting was very poor, and the pictures I took weren't all that great, I sent some of
them to the Scale Auto Enthusiast magazine. The picture in '93 Gallery was one of them. |
