Ferrari 641/2

Scale: 1/20
Manufacturer: Tamiya(base kit)
Category: Competition Open Wheel
  Semi-Scratchbuilt
After I had completed a 641/2 conversion kit requested by my friend, I wanted to have my own. Since I couldn't afford the conversion kit, I scratchbuilt one myself based on the kit made by Tamiya.
Conversion was relatively simple because I decided to make it a curbside model. I added extra volume to the nose, radiator openings and both sides of the induction pod by using epoxy and polyester putty. I widened the opening of the induction pod also.
The rest was basically taken straight from a F189 kit. After carefully smoothing the modified body, I painted the body PINK(!), then I airbrushed custom mixed red. The paint I used for this model was Gunze Sangyo "Mr.Color" acrylic lacquer. After the base coat's done, I sprayed the Gunze clear lacquer, then I sanded and polished to smooth the surface as I usually do.
The decals were taken from the kit as well as some leftovers from the conversion kit to represent the Prost car.(My friend wanted the Mansell car so I had some extra pieces.)
If I had bought the "perfect manual" before I started this project, it could have been a detailed model with the engine. However, if I did so, I might have been working on this project even today because of the details shown in the book. And that's exactly what's happening to my 1/20 MP4/6. (^_^;)
