With the main floor finally all laid down, the next step should be the printing alcove - this part has to get insulated before winter!
Getting the spaces filled nicely with insulation is really satisfying ... something about the firm fluffiness of the batts, especially when the covering polyfilm is stapled in place ...
Then of course, plywood panels screwed down on top. These are cut from the final couple of pieces left behind from the window crate.
It's not clear in the photo, but the 'outmost' piece of the plywood covering (the area that will be behind the filing cabinet that will appear here soon) is actually only held down by one screw. I'd like to keep the option to lift it for inspection of the foundation in these corners. If I ever did spring a leak there, it would be a disaster if I couldn't get access to take care of it.
And the other side ...
Don't have enough time this afternoon to scrounge up a piece of ply to fit that last centre section ... the printing bench upstairs is 'calling', so this will have to wait 'till later.
So here we are ... after two years of 'work', we're just about back to the stage where we started - a bare room, ready for a workshop to be built inside! But at least now there is a solid foundation: a well-insulated floor, an expanded alcove, wonderfully well-insulated windows ... No question I think, this was all worth it ...
