I of course had spaced the floor joists to match the insulation that was available. All I have to do is cut each piece off the long rolls and gently lay it in place, trying to make sure not to jam it in.
For those batts that lay over the vent pipes, it was necessary to cut the lower side of the batts and trim out some of the glassfibre, in order to get everything nice and even on the top level.
I'm doing half the room at a time ... Once the batts were in place, I stapled wide strips of the poly film sheet over the top. Unfortunately, my builder's supply store didn't have any clear 6mil poly - so I had to use white. This makes the next step - laying the plywood in place - somewhat more difficult ... I can't clearly see where the joist lines run to get the screws in the correct place!
But the sheets are going down one by one. Look at that! Shoes are now 'parked' outside ... this is finally turning into a 'real' room!
Here we are, all done! Sorry for the 'patchy' appearance here - I'm of course trying to use up as many of the off-cuts lying around as I can. It doesn't matter, because this is only the sub-floor ... I'm still not quite sure what I'll use for the real floor surface later, perhaps cork tile ...
