Review |
Since both kits will be used to make my Porsche 944S, I think it's
appropriate to review both of them together. Italeri kit represents the Euro spec 944S, so
minor modifications are necessary to make an accurate US version. My car is equipped
with the sun roof, but the kit doesn't have the groove, so I have to engrave it myself.
The hood is molded with the body and has to be cut to show the engine details.
Hasegawa's kit represents the Turbo version, which has a different front fascia.
The hood is separate, and the head light can be positioned open or closed.
The body has the sun roof grooves. The chassis detail of the Italeri kit is pretty
good. It features separate drive shaft and transmission case, and the suspension details
are adequate. Hasegawa's 944 features a separate engine detail, but the transmission
case is molded onto the chassis. Unlike Italeri, the steering is posable. Italeri's
interior looks accurate, but the handles are molded into the interior panel of the
door. On the other hand, Hasegawa included separate inner door handles.
Hasegawa's Turbo Racing features a bucket seat, roll bars and a fire extinguisher.
The kit includes the standard seat from the stock model, and they look better than Italeri
ones. The dashboard of the Italeri kit looks good, but Hasegawa's part looks better
because of sharp engraving. Decals are provided to represent the gauges in both
kits. It'll be more difficult to modify the turbo body to represent the correct S
version, I'll use the Italeri kit as a base and add better-looking parts from the Hasegawa
kit.
