Jon、Rickの脱退でバンド自体が危ぶまれたが、バグルスを吸収合併して発表にこぎつ
ける。やや旧作を意識したかの大作1は、テーマ提示が冴えない。その後の展開は、
はつらつとしていて良いできだけに惜しまれる。気分転換の2の後、一曲目に持って
きたほうが良かったと思う3、コードの跳躍が唐突なカメの4と良い曲が続く。6は、
YESを大アピールして駆け抜ける。テクニックとポップセンスにジャケットの黒豹が
あらわす疾走感が融合した佳作。

黄金期と呼ばれるLIVE。無難な選曲。サウンドはなかなか。
Gutar、Keyboard弾きまくりが聴きどころ。Leaves of greenが、JonのG 弾き語りで残念。

ジャケットが？ものだったが、傑作の続編で期待を込めて購入したものだ。
久しぶりに聴いての感想は、変わらなかった。（進歩無し?）
当時は、パンク最盛期に、ＰＯＰで明るく、メッセージ、宇宙人、子供を配し、
ばらばらでショックを感じたが、古きよき時代にこだわっていたのはこちらだった。
Ａ面が、クジラを除いて良い。5の軽快でストレートなロックンロールがゴキゲン。
巷で評価が高い 9は、かなり凝った作りだったんだと認識。
くじらが食べられなくなったのはこの頃からか？うしをころすなとか、ぶたをころすな、
が無いのは、なぜ？ やはり影には、食糧戦略があったのであろうか。
昨今、狂牛病、口蹄疫で苦しむ大英帝国であるが。

誰がなんといっても、私からみたＹＥＳ最高傑作。
曲よし。音よし。メンバー間の信頼度は、相当高かったに違いない。
それが音に現れているように感じとれる。それまでのＹｅｓは、メンバー間の危機的状況
（多分それは、互いのプライドとプライドのぶつかり合い）の中で、緊張感の高い傑作
を製作してきたが、ここでは、とてもフレンドリーで、自然で伸びやかな名曲を披露し
ている。まさに、究極。（これ以降、Yesアルバム同時体験）

私がYesを初めて聴きかつ聴きつづけるきっかけになったのが、ここで演奏されTV放映
されたRitualとAnd you and Iです。それはそれは素晴らしい体験、いや、すごい衝撃でした。
「こんな音楽が、この世にあったのか。」
それまで、洋楽は、Carpenters、Beatlesくらいは聴いたことがある程度であった私が、
まさに、目を覚まされました。
いま、このLDで再びあの時に戻れる自分に感慨無量です。(;_;)
生きててよかった。ありがとうVideo Arts。
ただし、このLD、前半のサウンドは、最悪！！。モノラルは、許せるがバランスは(-_-ﾒ)
せっかくのSound Chaser、To be overが台無し！！！

高校時代、はじめて聴いた感想は、「聴きとおすのがなんて大変なアルバムだろう」
でした。「THE GATES〜」では、硬質な音色に長く激しく続く攻撃的リフにあたって
のどがからから。終章のオアシス「Soon」がかかる頃には、すっかり参っていました。
B面（死語(^^ゞ）の「Soud Chaser」は、傷口に塩を塗るが如く、さらに激しい安息の
無い強力なサウンドで叩きのめされました。
瀕死の状態で「To be over」へ。もはや聴く気力は失せていた。
「これが本当にYes?」という感情は、かなり長い間ありました。
この曲がまともに聴けるようになったのは、学生時代。
プログレ以外の音楽も少しずつ聴く（聴ける）ようになり、特に、訳の分からん
フリージャズ？のような曲も我慢して「どこの何が良いのかな」と知らず知らずに聴く
訓練をしたのが幸いしたらしい。久しぶりに聴いたら音色には不満は残るものの
「Soud Chaser」のかっこよさ、「To be Over」のよさがわかった。生理的に受け付けら
れなかったのが嘘のように、今は聴いています。
(同様な体験は、EL＆Pの名作と呼び声高かった「タルカス」を初めて聴いたときにも
ありました）

The Revealing science of Godと、Ritualが良いです。
Ancientは、奇妙な曲ですが、終曲「Leaves of Green」（Anderson作）は、
「Mood for a day」（Howe作）と並んで、私にClassic Guitarを持たせ、
かつGuitar部に所属させた名演奏(^O^)
The Rememberingは、一聴、退屈ですが、おいしい個所がたまにあり、楽しんでます。
冗長で散漫、退屈で無理矢理という評がありますが、いい得て妙な作品群です。
次作「Relayer」より、遥かに多く聴いています。

このＬＩＶＥは、何回聴いたかわからない。はじめてのバイトで買った記念品でも
あります。買うなら、Ritualか、And you and Iがはいったものと考えていて、この当時
ＬＰ３枚組をいきなり買い求めました。そしてそれは大正解。ヘッドフォンをして連日頭
に叩き込み、体に染み込ませ続けました。そして、私はＹＥＳのファンとして生まれ変わ
ることになったのです。

2003年来日余波は、続く。Peter在籍時の貴重なfilm。若い。ワイルドさが魅力だ。
Yes AlbumからのNumberは、すっかり落ち着いた演奏。サイケでチープな編集が時代を物語る。
Yours is no disgraceで、Steveの妙技は冴え渡っている。素晴らしい。
