Mt. Daibosatsuryo and Daibosatsu Pass

Wakwak climbing club had climbed Mt. Daibosaturyo (height:2,057m) in October 30, 2003. Mt. Daibosatsuryo stands west of Tokyo. Daibosatsu Pass (1,897m) just south of Mt. Daibosatsuryo was used as trading route in Edo times.

First day

Three members of wakwak climbing club climbed up to 1,700m point by taxi. Like Mt. Kurumayama and Mt. Hachifuseyama, the top of Mt. Daibisatsu is not covered by Forest. Probably due to strong westerly wind. Therefore they enjoyed splendid view of Mt Fuji and lake Daibosatsu.. Lake Daibosatsu is an artificial lake used as upper water dam for mass pump water mill. The effective head is the world class of 714m.

They could see Isawa Hotspring and Enzan city at their foot. They saw Mt. Kinpuzan and Mt. Kobushidake having Yatsugatake Mountain range in background. Mr. Greenwood remembered cross country drive in his Jeep through Kawakami trail between Mt. Kinpuzan and Mt. Kobushidake.

They saw sun rise at 6:00. At the east they could see Mt. Mitouzan, Mt. Omaeyama and Mt. Ontake.

They started descending through old trading rout towards village Taba (620m). It took 5 hours to descend 1,277m.
