    39.94 km
   Intermediate
   Sunny
   Calm

Once in a while I feel so lazy that I don't even want to get up. This day seemed to be one of those days. I slept well last night, but was still sleepy.

Today was to be an easy day. I go up north to Powell River, which is only 30 odd kilometers away from Saltery Bay. I could've slept in, but at the same time I didn't have enough foods to fill my hungry stomach. I ended up with leaving the campsite at 8:30.

Bicycling in the morning is absolutely great. It is worth getting up early morning, especially on a sunny day like this. Deep forests on both sides of the road. Busy sounds of woodpeckers. Singing of frogs. Bright sunshine, crisp breeze and grateful shade. I was happy to come. People persuade nice houses, good-looking cars and staff like that. But I felt human's happiness has little to do with those things. Probably only few things are needed to be happy. At least I thought so at that moment. (Don't know what I would feel after I got home).

After one-hour ride I finally found a deli named "Deli". Stopped by for English muffins. One great big guy came next to me and ordered a double vanilla ice cream cone. It was so tempting that I had to order an ice cream cone, too. It, of course, tasted great (I was about to go for another one, but I wisely follow the dictates of reason).

Stopped by another deli (wasn't named "Another Deli" at this time), and changed a 5 dollars bill into small coins. And made a phone call to Lucy, who I expected to be awake. She answered. Chatted with her for a while. It was nice to talk to her. She was kind enough to allow me to use a collect call for the next time so I didn't have to carry a bunch of coins all the time.

The road became gradually curvy and hilly. Not a big deal. The winds brought me nice smell of the Strait of Georgia, which also encouraged me. Got in Powell River District, the largest region in the sunshine coast towns. Being still small compared to Vancouver, Powell River is very attractive town. You can overlook the beauty of the ocean from everywhere in the town. Abundant nature and easy access to Vancouver Island by ferry and airplane. If I had enough money, I would want to live in this town.
Got to Westview which is a part of Powell River at 11:30. Had another ice cream cone at DQ. I couldn't help it. I was already addicted to ice cream cone.

I was meant to visit Diana who is Lucy's sister. I phoned her, got no answer. Killed time by shopping groceries and decided to set up a tent at Willington Beach Campsite first. The campsite overlook Texada Island and Vancouver Island over the Strait of Georgia. It was very warm, actually hot after cycling. Many people were enjoying sunshine on the beach. Some had already installed tents or RVs. I aired out my wet sleeping bag. Within half an hour it was completely dried.

I finally caught Diana with my third call and visited her at quarter to five. One of the bad things of touring alone is you can't leave your tent alone for a long time. Although I've never had my staff stolen before, I still don't feel comfortable with letting my tent alone. But I was too lazy to fold tent and pack staff again at this moment. Oh well, visiting Diana won't take long.

She lives in a nice town house. Didn't take me a minute to recognize she is Lucy's sister. One of the pictures of her grandchildren on the wall was almost identical to Melissa, who is one of Lucy's granddaughters. Had half an hour chat and left. Back in the campsite, I made my routine supper, pasta. Sipping tea, I gobbled down the pasta. I completed my special dinner by adding mango and raspberry yogurt as dessert.

Settled down after dinner, I was watching sunset for an hour. Sun moved down slowly for the first 50 minutes like a snail and set in quickly for the last minute like a hawk. It was a just beautiful sunset.
