Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (R34)

Updated on 02/19/99

r34gtr11b.jpg (16337 bytes)The detail of NISSAN Super HICAS 4 wheel steering is well represented.  The diffuser is molded clear, so the detail can still be seen through it.  I was going to use carbon fiber decal, so I didn't add any detail to this area.
r34gtr11b.jpg (16337 bytes)The front suspension detail would also be hidden by a flat plate, so I made it straight out of the box.
r34gtr11b.jpg (16337 bytes)The interior was almost finished.  I used my ALPS printer to print the decal for the center console.
r34gtr11b.jpg (16337 bytes)After I carefully removed the seam lines with sand paper, I polished the body, and I glued the front and rear bumpers to the body.  Then I mounted the body, rear view mirror and wing stay to a spray can as shown.
r34gtr11b.jpg (16337 bytes)I coated the body with Mr. Surfacer 1200 spray several times until it was evenly applied.  When priming was done, I checked the body, and made sure that those scratches, made while removing the seam lines, were filled with primer.
r34gtr11b.jpg (16337 bytes)I decided to paint the body metallic blue as it's an image color of the R34.  For the base color, I chose Gunze's Mr. Color spray #80 cobalt blue, so that the body color would appear different from the New Beetle that I put together before.

The photo shows the stage with first few coats of base color, and the primer layer can be seen through.
