Majored in Regional Studies, East Asia. Concentration in Japanese political economy. Awarded a full scholarship. Masters thesis: Representative Democracy and Military Policy in Postwar Japan: The Role of Public Opinion.

B.A., RUTGERS COLLEGE (New Brunswick, NJ)
Attained dual degrees with honors in East Asian Studies and English; minor in political science. Selected to Phi Beta Kappa.

Currently involved in managing an English-language Internet Service Provider service and bulletin board system. Duties include contract negotiation with international clients, product promotion, marketing analysis, documentation, translation, and technical support.


Summer 1995
INDONESIAN MISSION TO THE UNITED NATIONS (New York, NY)
--Researcher/Speechwriter, Security Council Affairs
Authored Security Council resolutions and speeches regarding various Security Council matters. Researched current events of relevance, and advised the Permanent Representative and other Ambassadors on policies including peacekeeping operations, sanctions, and humanitarian affairs.

U.S. REPRESENTATIVE FRANK PALLONE (New Brunswick, NJ)
--Research Assistant
Researched and assessed policy proposals and bills, such as the Foreign Aid Bill of 1995. Responsible for writing policy papers and speeches, and handling constituent problems with federal agencies.

Provided technical support for PC and Macintosh systems. Responsible for annual computer room budget and equipment.

Researched, prepared, and edited Information Security Policy Manual for corporate-wide use. Provided technical support for PC and Macintosh systems. Analyzed and processed mainframe systems change requests for possible impacts.

RUTGERS UNIVERSITY DEBATE UNION (New Brunswick, NJ)
--Director
Responsible for all aspects of supervision of an organization with over one hundred members. Taught public speaking and research skills. Participated in the 1992, 1995 and 1997 World Debate Championships, and the 1992, 1993, and 1994 American National Championships. Selected as a finalist for the American National Debate Team.

  • Competent in Japanese. Reading knowledge of Spanish.
