With the steering rack and damper assembly
completed, the front section
is almost finished.
The model I'm working on is
going to be the right-hand steering version, and there are plates bolted
onto the lower left side of the bulkhead. I cut out two small rectangular
pieces of styrene sheet, and glued them to a strip of plastic. I added
bolt-heads made from sections of a hex rod. Then I trimmed parts to the
desired sizes. Having a tab to hold the part made the detailing
easier.
The kit includes the bracket
for the coolant reservoir tank, but it was too thick, and three holes are
filled. I used a punch to open three holes on a sheet of plastic as shown,
and then, drew the expanded view of this simple part.
Then, I folded the "ears" on both sides.
The scratchbuilt bracket was
painted with Tamiya flat aluminum and glued to the chassis.
Here is the front view of the
chassis.
Here is a picture of the front
section photographed from the upper right rear. Also in a small picture is
the inner side of the brake assembly.
