 Model Cars is a monthly publication by Neko Publishing, which is well known for many automobile related books and magazines.  It grew from less frequent journal to bi-monthly and now monthly.  Example models are built by some of the top Japanese and world modelers, and color photos are excellent.

Vol. 69 of Model Cars is featuring the recently reissued Porsche 956/962 kits, as well as many aftermarket decals.  This intensive article shows how much reissue of this kit was longed for. 

Part 1 of the special feature is the history of 956 and 962, accompanied by finely built model by Kazuo Yamazaki.  The model is based on the Scale Motorsport super kit, and it was enhanced in many ways, such as opening doors and front cowl.  Thirty pictures in various depth of detail show this magnificent model, and it's a great example for anyone, who's making a 956 model.

Part 2 shows various 956/962 built-ups, using the aftermarket decals.  Forty models are shown in six pages, and it's quite helpful, when choosing which to build.
Part 3 shows some some detail photos of the 956 and 962.  Those are previously shown in Neko's Car Magazine.  

 

 

Part 3 (probably meant 4) also includes four page color catalogue of aftermarket decals from Studio 27, Museum Collection, Scale Design, and Speed line.  Also, it shows Yorozuya's photo etch set for 956 and 962.

Part 4 shows the plastic and resin kits from Tamiya and Studio 27.  Scale Motorsport Super kit is also shown.  From A, Newman and Kenwood kits are available on auction for around $50.

Part 5 is about special model, and it has two photos of Profil24's 87 Le Man winner kit.  Part 6 is a three page article of small miniature cars and toys.

Overall, this issue of Model Cars has a great value, and it's recommended to everyone, who's going to make a model of the 956/962.

Vol. 56 is the first to be a monthly publication for Model Cars, which means a constant expense more often. :) 

This issue of Model Cars features the mid ship racing Porsches to coincide with the reissue of Tamiya's 1/12 910. The car shown right represents the 1966 Japan Grand Prix version.

The feature also includes some finely built 906s.  The large one is the ex-Otaki Bandai's 1/16 kit, and small ones are LS slot car kit, Tomine and K Models resin kits.
At the end of the closed body Porsche special is a wonderful reference photos of the 906.  It has twenty seven close up pictures in three pages.

Each Model Cars also shows brief review of the kits and die-casts, that are related to the featured article.  Here, they showed all Porsche kits released by Tamiya, followed by 904, 906, 910 and 917 released by various companies.

In this issue, Mr. Dale Kings scratchbuilt master pieces are covered in 12 pages, and this is a must-see especially for GPMA members.
