我々の住む迷いの世界を此岸といい、彼岸はそれを超えた悟りの世界のことを指すという
この言葉自体は仏教由来のものだが、その風習は日本独自に古くからあるものだともいう
ちょうど昼と夜の長さの同じこの秋分のとき、願をかける風習からきたものと言われている |

| 彼岸に花を供えるのは「苦しみに耐える」という意味があるという Higanbana flower blooms around the Autumnal
Equinox Day.
We Japanese also call the days as Higan festival. |

|
The Higan means
the Heaven which is located on the far side of the river. The river runs between our world
and the heaven.
This is another spiritual festival for us to pray for dead people.
If I were a prayer in a church at Higan days and seeking words for pray,
I will quote from the Psalms 23:4.
- especially for this moment of time.
"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no
evil: for thou art with me" |
