実は今日発見したわけではないんですが。

　私の家の近くの川には、冬になると海からかもめがやって来ます。それまでは、鳩の溜まり場になっているのに、寒くなってくるとかもめに取って代わられ、鳩は肩身が狭そうに川端のブロックにしがみつくことになります。先日から電線にまでかもめが進出して来て、鳩はおちおち止まってられません。かもめは気がきついですね。からす並みかなぁ？

　でもご存知のとおり、かもめの足には水かきがあって、電線は止まりにくそうです。すぐふらついて、三羽はなんとか止まっていましたが、四羽目は止まろうと何度も近づいてバタバタしては、勇気が出ずにあきらめてしまうということを繰り返してました。

　なんでそこまでして電線に止まりたいのでしょう？鳩の居場所も鯉のえさもぶんどってるのに…。

In Winter, sea gulls come from the bayside to the river near my home. There are pigeons around there, but sea gulls take every place and pigeons move on to concrete blocks at the river side. Sea gulls are strong-minded like crows.

By the way, sea gulls have webbed toe. It seems to be difficult to perch on the electric wire. Three sea gulls were perching anyhow, but the 4th sea gull repeated to give up after several trials.

I don't understand why they would like to perch on the electric wires. They have already took the place of pigeons' territory and also took carps' foods.
