For the sheathing on this wall, I'm using the plywood panels that I ripped up from the floor a couple of months ago. They are not so 'pretty', but they still have plenty of strength. And this really is quite a 'recycle' project, because the screws are also previously used - in this case they are from the huge crate that the windows came in ...

A bit crazy I guess - building a super-insulated wall, and then cutting a cat door in it! (But even the cat door will be a 'three-flapper' affair, so I don't think I'll lose too much heat ...)

I mentioned a while back that this is a north-facing room, at the bottom of a steep valley. So where is all this sunshine coming from? Well, this is June, and for just about a six-week period each year, the evening sun does get far enough around to shine on this wall. At these times, it seems like a shame to have to close-in this room so much, but when you think about the other end of the calendar, it just can't be helped. At least the windows on each side will open wide (they are screened), so I'll still be able to enjoy the river gurgling away down there ...
