With the railing now out of the way, the sills for the new wall can go down. The two side pieces just had to be cut to size, and slipped into place over the bolts that I prepared when pouring the concrete, but the front piece is a bit different.
For this piece, I had to drill into the concrete, and insert two 'expander' anchor bolts. Here in this photo I'm locating the holes for them ...

The next step is just simple framing work, although slightly complicated by the beveled cuts where the side pieces join the front, and by the fact that the top surface of the concrete footer under the front piece is angled slightly inwards.
This is 2x6 construction; I really don't want to skimp on the insulation on this wall, so chose this thicker grade of lumber.

I'm not building the whole wall in one piece, as there is no way that I would be able to get it up into place over those bolts. So it's coming together this way - first a strong base section bolted down to the concrete, and then upper sections (with window openings) which will be bolted upwards into the roof.
Now from the inside we start to get a feel for what the workspace will be like. That vertical bar (the old aluminum door frame) is of course coming out soon. The entire alcove will have a platform built into it (about knee height), and that will be my printing area ...

It's now nearly the end of May ... and any day now the rainy season will be here. It would sure be nice to get this wall done before the rains hit, but that doesn't look likely ...
