Presentaion slides and notes prepared for LNG 12 Workshop Session 3, Cost Reduction of LNG Entire Chain held in Perth, Australia in may 1998.

Invited Speech GLOBALIZATION OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING ENTERPRISES addressed at Industry Session of 7th Asian Chemical Congress held in Hiroshima city in May 1997.

Mr. Greenwood made an presentation “Gas conversion in 21 st. century: What is the most economical route” in The 3rd Middle East Gas Summit held in Dubai on October 21, 1997.   Same content was also presented in ASCOPE'97 and Oil & Gas Journal April 6, 1998.

Under this title, we tried to share with participants what we have found in comparing various energy transportation options.

Focus was placed especially on energy mass transportation targeted for power generation fuel and gas to liquid conversion. Among various gas to liquid conversion, Dimethyl Ether (DME) was found to promise lower cost than LNG when shipping distance is longer than 5,000-7,000km.

Selling DME at CIF point and consumer point are discussed. In the case of marginal or stranded gas field, DME as LNG alternative is proposed. An idea of utilizing DME as LPG substitute is also discussed. Sensitivity analysis were conducted for various options.
