      Sad news.

      Hope turns around,
      Like a carousel,
      Forever.

      Out of reality.

      Never to be true.

      The God of Death,
      Sometimes,
      Is waiting for us,
      With his scythe,
      Swinging.

No way to escape from him.

On a clear and hot day in Summer,
      A cicada's cast-off shell,
      Found on the tree.
I felt the sheer mortality of a creature,
While listening to its sharp singing or crying,
To live through a short life span,
      Out of the earth.

    (Translator's Note)

I think the cicada's buzz is a call for a mate. Maybe it sings when it has found one or cries when it has not.

On a fine day in spring,
      Stepped into the stream,
      Being barefooted.

Cool water penetrated into my body and mind,
      To reset everything,
      And make a new start.
