FIAT 127 SPORT

Interior design

The interior is seemed modestly sporty.

The steering is set a little verticality.
It is made by ABARTH and has 2 spokes with a diameter of 35cm.
Although the design of a horn button is not ABARTH but FIAT.

Meters made by VEGLIA, are an Italian modern design used octagonal shapes as the motif.
There are an oil pressure gauge and an analog clock in the center of a dashboard,
however there is no voltmeter attached on A112 ABARTH.

There are 4 tumbler switches on a dashboard of the forward right of a steering.
These are the one for a small/low beam lights, hazard lights, a heated rear window and a rear wiper.
I couldn't see these switches in the night, so I attached the lamp for lighting.
Though there is the panel lamp as a standard equipment in the left-hand drive model.

The tip of a turn signal lever, a hi/low beam change lever and a wiper sw lever 
are also as colorful as green, blue, and yellow.
It seems Italian taste.

Since a gear-shift lever is located a little lowness, 
it has a strange feeling until it gets used.

For a right-hand drive model, 
since the pedal space is narrow and has offset to the center,
the place of a left foot has only a top of clutch pedal.
Also the interval of an accele and a brake pedal is narrow.

The leg space for a rear seat is reasonably.
Although it is 5 person riding in its native country,
it is changed into 4 person riding for japanese low. 

There is no glove box and only a shelf is under a dashboard of a passenger seat side.
Also there is no center console and only a small tray is in front of a gear-shift lever.
However there is a door pocket.

A car stereo(radio) is located in the front of passenger seat, 
So it is very dangerous to operate under driving.

Air outlet is only two pieces on the center of a dashboard,
and two flaps in the center bottom of a dash for warm air.
There is a heated rear window.

Herringbone fabrics are used for seat cloths.
Black fabrics are trimmed by piping of a color according to the body color. 
(If a body color is black and it is orange, and if silver, it's blue.
I don't know the color when a body color is orange.)
Front seats have a dial reclining adjustment.
Seat belts are made by SABELT.
Rear seats have 50/50 split folding seatbacks.
To fold the rear seatbacks, the seat cushions flip up 90 degrees, 
then the seatbacks fold down flat.This is very useful.
There is a tonneau cover which hides baggages in a luggage room.



It seems that interior was also renewed by the face lift in 1982. 
Unfortunately, I don't know the details.
