1987 Production stops
After UNO of a succeeding vehicle appeared in 1983, production was continued for several years. By the 1049cc model of an appearance in 1977, a rear quarter window was extended and a bonnet tip was somewhat lowered. By the face lifting in 1982, in addition to amendment of the interior and exterior, the engine of SPORT model was changed into 1302cc 75hp from 1049cc 70hp. FIAT 127 SPORT was imported to Japan officially first in 1981. Those were right-hand drive 4speed model and only 50 cars. TOHO Motors was the FIAT dealer at that time. In 1983 the licence of a dealer moved to JAX, then Left-hand drive model was imported. I do not know how many 127 sport were actually imported. Only the model before a face lift in '82 was imported. The car price of those days was about 1,900,000 yen in Japan. Although FIAT 127 is a very popular car in Europe, notability is very low in Japan compared with A112, 500, 126, RITOMO, etc. It is considered because there was a little number of import and/or ABARTH batch was not attached. Also it was taken up by the automobile magazine at the time of beginning to import, I think after it that it have not been taken up.
