In ancient Egypt, the Scarabaeus sacer insect which rolls the ball of excrement was considered to be the incarnation of God which carries the sun. Then, the faith which engraves a stone etc. with the figure of this insect and is used as a charm was produced. Large naturalist Linne in the 18th century was connected with this historical fact, and named a kind of the insect of the typical excrement which rolls the ball of excrement Scarabius sakeru, i.e., "a sacred beetle." In France, it is put into French and it is called Scarab sakeru. Fabre had deep concern in the figure which rolls the excrement, and the ecology was clarified by the thorough observation and the experiment which was rich in originality and creativity. It could also be considered to be the reason led to "incarnation of God" Scarab that Fabre was able to write the great work as rich "account of an insect" as that.
