Western Sahara is a region in which ownership is disputed with Morocco, but it became a Spanish protectorate in 1884, and after World War I it was integrated into southern Morocco, but in 1958 it became a Spanish province again.
The insect stamps was issued from the Spanish Sahara in 1964 and 1965. Although it is monochrome, it is drawn finely ecologically.
The Morocco army will trespass upon Western Sahara at the time of withdrawal of Spain in 1976. Then, Algeria supported the Western Sahara release influence which aims at construction of the Sahara Arab Democratic Republic. As of 2011, Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic receives approval from 58 countries including Algeria, Republic of South Africa, Mexico, Vietnam and the United Nations does not approve it, but joins the African Union (AU).
Five kinds of dragonfly stamps and one kind of small sheets were issued in 1995 from this Western Sahara release battle line.
