Insect Stamp of Kyrgyz

Kyrgyzstan is located in eastern Central Asia. Approximately half the size of Japan, over 60% of its land area is at altitudes exceeding 3,000 meters. The ancestors of the Kyrgyz people settled here around the 6th century, and after Islamization in the 8th century, the country passed through rule by Mongolia and Imperial Russia. It became part of the Russian Republic in 1918, and in 1936 became a constituent republic of the USSR as the Kyrgyz Soviet Socialist Republic. It declared independence in 1990, changing its name to the Kyrgyz Republic, and achieved independence in 1991. Externally, the country values ties with Russia and other Central Asian countries, while also seeking to strengthen ties with the West.
The Kyrgyz Republic issued six kinds of butterfly stamps in 1998.
