As for Portuguese Guinea, the race release organization Guinea-Bissau Cabo Verde independent Africa party declared independence of Guinea-Bissau and Cabo Verde in September, 1973. And it became independent in September, 1974 and the Republic of Guinea-Bissau was born after fighting with the Portugal army. This country consists of the mainland adjacent to Republic of Guinea, and the Bijagosu islands which appear on the offing.
On the other hand, although Portuguese went into Guinea at first, it became the Franch at the end of the 19th century, and was included in the French territory western Africa federation. However, it became independent of France and became Republic of Guinea in October, 1958.
Six kinds of insect stamps were issued from this independent Republic of Guinea in 1973. Six kinds of beetle stamps and one kind of small sheets were published in 1998. Three kinds of beetle stamps were issued also in following 1999.
