A NEW INDEPENDENT GRADUATE SCHOOL, GSEIS-YNU

§ GSEIS, YNU is expected to give the first MA degrees to its post-graduate students in March 2003.


The new school, GSEIS-YNU, Graduate School of Environment and Information Sciences, Yokohama National University, is an independent and inter-disciplinary school dedicated for post-graduate students alone, and awards M.A. and Ph.D degrees. It has 4 different Departments, i.e. Department of Environmental Life Science, Department of Environmental System Engineering, Department of Media Information Science and Department of Environment Technology Management. Each Department has 2 M.A.Research Courses, Earth Environment Science, Life Environment Science, Material System Engineering, System Design Engineering, Information Media Science, Mathematical Information Analytics, Technology Management, and Risk Management respectively.

Students who expect not only to have academic research careers, but to take professional jobs in engineering, scientific activities or business management, can take these Research Courses. Matured students and overseas students are also welcomed, for whom special admission schemes are offered.

Besides the GSEIS, Faculty of Environment and Information Sciences (FEIS) was founded as a research institution, to keep strong ties between academic research activities and school education.




Department of Environment Technology Management, GSEIS, collects inter-disciplinary research methodologies, i.e. management science, economics, sociology, ethics, ecology, environment science and environment-metrics. M.A. and Ph.D in environment science, technology management, engineering or general science will be awarded when students complete course works of the Department.



YOKOHAMA-MOT (Technology Management Course) offers such lectures and seminar classes as Strategic Management, R&D Management, Eco-strategy, Business Creation and Development, Local Networking Policy, Global Management, Information Sharing, Social Systems, Ethics of Science and Technology and Eco-management, and encourages students to be engaged in technology assessment, business start-ups promotion, R&D management, as well as academic research jobs in their future.




 
 GSEIS-YNU started in April 2001. The annual admission session regurally begins every July and the entrance examination is every August, at the YNU Hodogaya campus, both for MA and Ph.D students. The second entrance examination may be offered on Feburary next year.
