This model was commissioned by the owner of the real car. This time, it was the UK spec. The model was based on the updated Fujimi kit, which has a hard roof and flat engine cover.

Reference photos of the UK version shows that there are some differences, such as larger license plate mounts on the front and rear bumper, no side markers on the front bumper. The optional moon roof is also equipped.

Obviously, the major work was the moon roof. I cut the roof, and used it as a master to heat&smash a tinted vinyl sheet of about 0.5 mm thickness.

It's a little hard to see, but the upholstery patterns are printed on a blank decal with the ALPS printer. I used Mr. Mark Softener, but the application was a nightmare.

Also, the seatbelts were made from modeler's seat belt set.

License plates were printed on a photo quality paper, but they are retouched in these photos for privacy.

I used Aoshima's photo etch set for the front and rear badge, but the one on the trunk fell when I was taking photos, and it was glued back on later.

After primer was applied, the body was painted black, then Tamiya spray Metallic Green was used for the final body color. After that, I airbrushed Hobby Shop GT's urethane clear.

Urethane clear hardens by chemical reaction, and it was ready for sanding and polishing in just about 5 days.

I took the usual finishing procedures, such as sanding with Detail Master abrasives from 4000 grit to 12000 grit, polishing with Tamiya and Modeler's compound, then, finished with Hasegawa ceramic compound and polymer wax.

Notice that the current SW20 kit has a flat engine cover. I believe the T-Top Turbo kit is discontinued, and it's no longer available. All Fujimi MR2 kits, which previously had T-Top were replaced with this body, and the box and instructions were also updated.

T-Top kits are very expensive these days, and I saw one example sold at 4800 yen on auction.
