The GT1 is probably the most sensational race car of the 90s, and
the release of the kit was most welcomed among the sports car fans like myself. |
In order to complete the kit quickly, the kit was built straight
out of the box. In my opinion, Tamiya kits are ideal for the box stock entries,
since they all look pretty good without any extra work or after market parts. |
The painting work wasn't so difficult, since it is pure
white. The use of Q-Tip made the decal application easy, and I didn't experience any
difficulty. The top roundel should be gold plated, but I think it's the limitation
of the decal. Please, look forward to how I'm going to deal with this problem for
the car number 25 model. |
Ah...car number 25... Yes, there will be a model of the car
number 25, and that will be extensively detailed. I bought an extra pair of the
Italeri Carrera(993) and Tamiya 911 GT-2 to scratchbuild the GT1 when I became confident
in the amount of reference material obtained. |
The conversion kit for the '97
spec is already available from a Japanese manufacture for $70, but it is reported that
Revell/Monogram is going to release the '97 version in fall, so I'll wait for that.
I'm very interested in how R/M will challenge Tamiya in race car model. Still,
Porsche is going to race all new 911GT1s in Le Mans this year to celebrate its 50th
anniversary with victory, so my question is why do they take so long to release a kit?
(Anyone remember the belated release of the Revell Miata kit?) |
