Flash memory can record 85 minutes low quality video of 160 x 112 pixel, 10fps with MPEG1 compression.

If you select 320 x 240 pixel , 30fps, MPEG1 mode, the quality may be better, but you can only record 21minutes on the same chip.

Video Camera

If you wish to make video record of your trip, you may need video camera equipped with a tape. Recently, Sony corporation developed a MICROMV tape cassette ( 46mm) which can record 60 minutes 720 x 480 pixel, 60fps video with MPEG2 compression.

Mr. Greenwood acquired Sony Handycam IP55 using this tape. The quality is equivalent to DVD movie. The weight of the camera is only 435g. You can capture and edit movie with MovieShaker v.3.2.

Captured MPEG2 MICROMV.mmv file is readable by QuickTime of MovieShaker but not readable by InterVideoWinDVD,  Real nor MicrosoftMediaPlayer. You have to convert to avi mode. In this case, the volume will be about double of MICROMV file. You can distribute avi video with your friend in CD-R when size is within3 min.

Larger size video have to be distributed in VHS tape cassette in analog recording or DVD-R in avi format.

You can also convert to 320 x 240 pixel MPEG1 and distribute in CD-R or convert to 160 x 112 pixel MPEG1 and broadcast to Internet.
