Born in North Carolina, raised in Connecticut where he graduated from Bassick HS. He was very active in the school music programs from an early age. He participated in a joint program with the North Carolina Symphony in elementary school. Then went on to study drums, and choir in high school, where he also played, and sang with the Southwest Division Symphony Orchestra.

After HS, Nelson joined a band and toured the East Coast live circuit, as a guitarist. He also attended college for electronics, but it was his love for music that drove him to devote all of his time to pursuing that career.

After waking up one morning and realizing he had became a sailor, Nelson kept his musical aspirations alive by playing for his shipmates at various functions, and playing in the numerous countries that he visited. One of those countries, Japan, is where he resides even now. He was active in numerous musical projects, and played guitar, and drums, with many Japanese artists, onstage, as well as in the studio.

Since the early 80’s Nelson also added Disc Jockey to his list of endeavors, having hosted a variety of radio shows, as well as appearing on television. His voiceovers are featured in many commercials on t.v. and radio.

As DJ Ike, he has written, arranged, and performed on many recordings, and in live concerts.

He is currently involved in writing for game software projects, and acting as a sound director, and recording engineer for various projects in the greater Tokyo area.
