CREATIVE MODERN KITE TRAIN

Mr. and Mrs.Yabe are very famous for their creative modern train kites in Japan. Their train kites have individual stories and concepts for each kite train. Each kite has a very complex figure and construction to express the story of the train kite. The theme of the train kite is taken from the old tale in Japan and the famous story in eastern countries. Those kites allways gives dreams and fantasy to the people watching their train kites. Mr.Teruyuki Yabe is a member of Japan Kite Association, the Creative Kite Club in Tokushima and Japan Kite Photography Association.

Breif descriptions of above kites;

#1 The size of each kite is 170cm high and 60cm wide. Thirty kites are chained on the line of 120m long.
Awa dance is the large scale of the folk dance festival which is held at Tokushima every summer. This dance folk dance festival is fevy famous for its huge scale of dance and attendance. The sculptures of kites are resembled to the dancers with traditional costume in the festival.

#2 The size of each kite is 150cm high and 94cm wide. Fifty kites are chained on the line of 150m long.
This pidture was taken at the festival which was held in Miho seaside from where the heighest mountain, Mt.Fuji was seen beyond the crain train kite. you can see the Mt.Fuji at the lower left cprner of the picture.

#3 The size of each kite is 160-170cm high and 80cm wide. Twenty kites are chained on the line of 100m long.
This train kite was made for the International kite festival in Aso, Kumamoto, in 1991. This train kite consists of the costumes of twenty countries of Japan, France, Russia, Netherland, Kenya, Korea, India, Greece, Turkey,Spain, Thailand, Demmark, Afganistan, China, Nepal, Indonesia, Pakistan, Algeria, Inuit, Czechoslovakia.

#4 The size of each kite is 170cm high and 90cm wide. Twenty kites are chained on the line of 100m long.
This kite looks like as real horse running because of trailing legs of horse.

#5 The size of each kite is 140-180cm high and 65cm wide. Nine kites are chained on the line of 45m long.
The story of "Momotaro" is very famous old tale in Japan. The kites of sculpture are the characters in the story of "Momotaro.

#6 The size of each kite is 170cm high and 60cm wide. Thirty kites are chained on the line of 18m long.
This kite of Line Dance was made in 1994 and this unique train kite was introduced in Japan and the world through TV program.

#7 The size of each kite is 160-180cm high and 50-90cm wide. Twenty kites are chained on the line of 100m long.
This train kite was flew at the 1200 year memorial kite festival of building of "Heiankyo", old city of Kyoto in 1994. This train kite consists of the costumes of the primitive ages (before 592), Asuka era (592-710), Nara era (710-784), Heian era (794-1180), Kamakura era (1180-1333), Muromachi era (1333-1573), Azuchi Momoyama era (1573-1600), Edo era (1600-1867), Meiji era (1867-1912), Taisho era (1912-1926), Showa era (1926-1989).

#8 The size of each kite is 180cm high and 60cm wide. Seven kites are chained on the line of 35m long.
The Seven Deities of Good Fortune has been believed as a god of fortune in Japan. Those are Benzaiten, Daikokuten, Ebisu, Hotei, Juroujin, Fukurokuju, Bishamonten.

#9 The total size is 400cm high and 450cm wide. Each six kites are connected with carbon fiber rod which diameter is 6mm.
The Bunraku pippet was made in memory of the famous artist, late Minosuke Ohe in 1997. This kite consists of upper row, Otsuru, Otsuru & Oyumi and lower row, .

#10 The total size is 350cm high and 500cm wide. Ten kites are connected with carbon fiber rod which diameter is 15mm.
This kite consists of the characters who appear in the tale of "Snow White".

#11 This is same as #6. This picture was taken at "the Yokohama International Kite Festival '98" which was held on March 1998.
