Clifton C.Binghamの詞に、James Lyman Molloyが曲を付けて、１８８４年にイギリスで発表された。日本でも「なつかしき愛の歌」という題名で戦前、女学生の愛唱歌の一つであったと記憶する。 　現在、インターネットで検索する限りでは、日本語訳としては近藤玲二氏の詞のみがある。私が記憶している詞はそれとは別のものであるが、どんなに探しても見つけることが出来なかった。 以下に掲げる詞のうち前段のものは、私のうろ覚えのものであり、途中欠落したままの部分もあるし、２番は全く思い出せない。もし、ご記憶の方がおいでであれば、是非お教え願いたい。また後段は、近藤玲二氏の作詞である。
