Edaphosaurus and Dimetrodon which lived in the hot and humid forest area of the Permian of the end are the Pelycosauria near the mammalian which walked with 4 legs, and spinous process of the backbone extended above in the Paleozoic era and formed triangular sail there. A blood vessel is distributed over the part of the sail like a mesh of a net, and it seems that it regulated the temperature.
In Edaphosaurus, it prepared for the appearance of the spinous process to a sharp splinter, but it was a kind of quiet herbivory. Therefore it had a sharp splinter around a projection so that, for example, other carnivorous animals protected an important temperature adjuster from Dimetrodon.
