神の住まう山における冒険から何十年もの時が過ぎた。
Many decades of years had past since the adventure in Achelon.
諸君ら引退した冒険者の時代は確実に終わりを告げ、今や諸君らの子孫あるいはその子孫たちが活躍する時代を迎えていた。神の使者の降臨と前後して巻き起こった天変地異（今では「神々の試練」として知られている）はすでに記憶から忘れられ、わずかに伝承に残るのみである。小規模な戦乱こそあれ、世界は一般に平和であった。その中で、ごくわずかな数の賢者は敏感に変化の兆候を感じ取り、世界の終末を口にする者さえ現れたが、大部分の人はそのような世迷い言は相手にせず、平和な世の中を謳歌していた。
The era of you, retired adventurers were completely over, now it's the time your posterity are active. The messenger of God descented about that time a natural disaster happened-- now known as "the trial of God"-- was already forgatten, only remains in an oral tradition. Few small-scale warfighting beguns once in a while, but almost of the world is in peace. A very few wises feel the sign of change, even a man telling the world's end appears, but many of people refuse to deal with them and revel a peace time.
かつて繁栄した都市国家は未だ健在であり、あるときは覇を競い、あるときは協調関係にあった。ただひとつ、Breddaを除いては。神の使者が最初に降臨したBreddaは完膚なきまでに叩き潰され、城跡にわずかに残された建築物が当時の姿を伝えるのみだった。王家及び精鋭で知られたBreddaの軍隊は滅亡し、強国Breddaはあっけなくこの世から消えさった。それは、まるで近隣諸国に次々と攻め込み、多くの地方を従え、繁栄を謳歌したその報いであるかのようだった。今や、Breddaの周囲にまともに住み着く人はいなかった。そして、それが故に、Breddaには城の廃墟を中心に盗賊や闇商人といった怪しげな連中が集まりだしたのである。
City-states prospered formerly are still going strong, sometimes they fight, sometimes they concert to contend for spremacy. Except one, Bredda. Bredda-- the state the messenger of God descented initialy-- was broken completely, only some structures at the ruins of a castle tell how things were then. A royals and a crack troops of Bredda were fallen, Bredda the strong state was vanished suddenly. The fact told just like a punishment as a result of its invasion of neighboring countries one after another, couquest of many regions and thier praises of prosper. Now no honest people lives around Bredda. And so, a lot of suspicious people such as thieves and black traders gatherd around the ruin of the castle of Bredda.
きっかけは、ある噂であった。
そもそも、Breddaが健在であった頃、かの国による周辺諸国への侵攻と、それに続く容赦なき簒奪は広く知られており、諸国の恐怖と憎悪の対象となっていた。当時Breddaが集めた財宝は城内を埋め尽くすほどの量であると噂された。Breddaによる侵攻は、最後の国王Anihilusの治世においてもっとも熾烈を極めた。その先頭に立つのは勇猛で知られた将軍Blackburnであり、彼の赴くところ常に敵なしであった。
破竹の進撃は神の使者の降臨とともにあっさりと幕を閉じた。国王Anihilusと将軍Blackburnはいずれも城の崩落に巻き込まれ命を失った。精強を誇った軍隊は将軍というカリスマを失い、あっという間に崩壊した。住民は周辺諸国からの報復を恐れ、たちまちのうちに離散した。
しばらくの間、神の祟りを恐れ近づく者はいなかった。やがて、命知らずの盗賊が城内に入り込み始めた。彼らの目的はもちろん城内に残された山のような財宝であったが、不思議なことに誰もそれを見つけられなかった。しばらくして、そのうちの１人が城内から地下に続く通路を発見した。その通路の先に待っていたのは、信じられないほど広大な地下迷宮であった。その事実は瞬く間に盗賊の間に広がり、やがてある噂を生み出した。
「城の地下迷宮には、１国が手に入るほどの莫大な財宝が眠っている。」
A beginning of the story was a rumor.
At the time Bredda was still strong, the invasion of neighboring countries and unsparing usurpation following invasion was formerly known, it caused fears and hates of the neighbors. The treasure Bredda collected in those days was rumored as filling whole the castle. The Bredda's invasion was most severe in reign of Anihilus, the last king of Bredda. The frontman was warlord Blackburn, formerly known as brave. His troops swept away all opposition, there was no match against him.
His advance unopposed against him was end suddenly with a descent of the messenger. King Anihilus and warlord Blackburn were dead, involved by a collapse of the castle. The crack troops loose a charismatic warlord and broke down in a twinkling. People of Bredda were afraid of retaliation of neighbors, scatterd in a moment.
For some time no one came to Bredda to be afraid of the wraith of God. Presently, daredevil thievs entered to the castle. Of course, their purpose was a treasure which filled and left in the castle, but strangely, no one found the treasure. Soon one of them found a passage continues to underground from the castle. The passage connect to unbelievable magnificent dungeon. The fact got abroad between thieves suddenly, then a rumor was spreaded.
"In the dungeon of the castle, a colossal treasure matches a price of a state is lying."
かくして、Bredda周辺には、その噂を聞きつけた盗賊連中が集まりだし、やがて彼らを相手に商売を始める者が住み着いた。彼らの求める財宝は、強烈な印象を残した最後の将軍にちなみ、誰となく「将軍の遺産」と呼ばれるようになった。地下迷宮には同時に多くのモンスターも住み着いており、探索に向かい命を落とした者も数多く、これが噂をさらに神秘的なものに変えた。数多くの盗賊や自称冒険者などが、あるものは財宝、あるものは名声を求めて毎日のようにBreddaを訪れ、それはまるでBreddaが往年の活気を取り戻したかのようにさえ思われた。
Thus, thieves heard the rumor came around Bredda little by little, then marchants deal with them settled. In association with the strong impression on the last warlord, somehow or other the treasure came to be known as "The legacy of the warlord". In the dungeon many monsters were also settled, so many person on a hunt lost thier life, then the fact made the rumor more mysterious. A lot of thieves and adventurers called by themselves came Bredda everyday, someone wanted a treasure, others wanted a honor. It looks like one-time Bredda got lively.
そして、かつて様々な苦難において名を馳せた冒険者の子孫である諸君らも、そのうちの一人としてここBreddaにたどり着いたのである。
And you, posterity of the adventurers became famous with many sufferings at once, now come to Bredda, as one of them.
