ストーリー Story
南海に浮かぶ孤島の一つ、Achelon島は伝説に彩られた島である。島全体が一つの山のようになっており、人の住める部分はほとんどない。島にはわずかな人々が漁業を営んで暮らしていた。伝承では、この島にそびえ立つ山には神が住まうという。この山は天国と地獄につながる入り口になっており、何万年にもわたり、この山の中で光の軍勢と闇の軍勢が戦っているのだという。
Achelon island -- one of an osolated island, is a legendary land. The island is like a whole-mountain, and there's only a few section people can live. A few people leads fisheries. In a tradition, God lives in mountain of the island. The mountain is a gate connects to heaven and hell, and force of light and dark are fighting fiercely against others for millions of years.
Calnacの街は諸君らの手によってZOD-I-ACの軍勢から解放された。新生スペード騎士団の手によってCalnacの街は急速に復興に向かい、諸君のうち何人かはそのままCalnacにとどまり、何人かは元の近衛騎士団に復帰し、そして何人かは再び冒険に旅立っていった。都市国家諸国は相変わらず不安定な協調関係にあり、諸君はその後もいくつかの戦乱を乗り越え、やがて社会は安定の兆しを見せ始めた。
Calnac was released by you from evil force and ZOD-I-AC. Spade Knights renewed and Calnac was reconstructed by them -- Some of you were stayed in Calnac, some were returned to royal guard, and some were gone to another adventure. City-states were in unsettled consert as before, they (also you) got over many wars. Then, slightly, socials looked a sign of stability.
四半世紀あまりの時が過ぎた。
A quarter of century had past.
時代の主役は諸君の子供たちに移っていた。もう諸君は若くはない。様々な冒険に魂を躍らせた時代は終わったのだ。諸君は引退の時を悟り、装備や財産を子孫に譲り渡し、悠々自適の隠退生活を送っていた。諸君の住む街は若き近衛騎士団によってよく護られ、街は平和な時が続いていた。
A major role of age shifted to your children. You are not too young any more. The time of soul-springed adventure is over. You knew the time of retirement, turned over your equipment to your sons, and spend the rest of your life free from worldly cares. Your city-state was guarded by young royal guards, and peace and prosperity have prevailed.
その平和な時がついに破られる時が来た。それは血なまぐさい戦争によってではなく、自然界の乱れによってもたらされた。何年もの間地震が頻発し、気候は大きく変化し嵐や雷鳴がとどろいた。何人かの賢者は世界の終わりを警告したが、ほとんどの人々はそれらを気にとめなかった。
Recently, however, the tranquility has been disturbed, not by bloody war, but rather by unbalanced nature. For years, unsettling accounts of freak earthquakes, sudden changes in climate, and thundering storms have reached the ears of people. Most have ignored them.
しかし、普段は穏やかな地中海が荒れ狂い、Etheleartの植民島が海に飲み込まれるに至って、とうとう人々も異変の兆しを感じざるを得なかった。
When the formerly gentle Mediterranean sea rose and swamped the island colony of Etheleart, no one could ignore the signs any longer.
人々は名高き光輝の寺院にこの世の救いを求めた。やがて、寺院の僧侶たちは天啓を受けとった。それは、誰もが予想しないものであった。
People wanted salvation to the famous Temple of Shiny God. Then, priests of the temple received the oracle. That was, no one expected.
"光輝の神は、生け贄を求めている。"
"The Shiny God requires to offer as a sacrifice."
人々は一様に理由を知りたがった。だが、答えは誰からも得られなかった。いぶかしがる人々の前に、今度は大天使が神々の使いとして降臨した。
People wanted to know the reason, but no one answered. People suspected, then an arch angel descented with a mission from God.
"我らが戦いの勝利の時は近い。都市国家の王よ、千人の生け贄をAchelon島の山中にある寺院に捧げよ。"
"The time is getting close at hand. The kings of the city-states, offer a thousand people to a temple in the mountain of Achelon as a sacrifice."
神々の使いは、まずBreddaに現れた。Breddaの王は、にわかには話を信用しなかった。やがて、Bredda郊外の村落が次々と地震に飲まれ、Breddaの城壁までもが崩れ落ちた。次に、使いはCalnacに訪れた。Calnacの王は船を仕立て、Achelon島に千人の人々を送ることに決めた。護衛にはスペード騎士団の精鋭が付き従った。何が起きているのかを突き止めねばならない。彼らは強い信念の元、Achelonへ向け旅立った。
The arch angel descented to Bredda at first. The king of Bredda didn't trusted suddenly. After a while, country villages of Bredda broke and ruined by earthquake in succession, and even a castle wall of Bredda was falled. Next, the messenger descented to Calnac. The king of Calnac decided to prepare ships and send a thousand to Achelon. The best of Spade Knights escorted as a guard. They must find out the truth what was happen. They leave for Achelon with a strong faith.
そして、誰も帰ってこなかった。
And, no one returned.
次に、使いは諸君の住む街に現れた。Breddaの惨状を目の当たりにした王には、他に選択肢はなかった。だが、千人の人々をむざむざ見殺しにするわけにもいかない。神々の真意を突き止め、自然界の乱れを正すため、誰かが行かなければならなかった。
Next, the messenger descented to your city. The king sawed a terrible condition of Bredda had no choise. But, there is no way to leave a thousand without help. Someone have to go to find out Gods' will, and recover the balance of nature.
諸君は決心した。この、帰還できる見込みのない任務を、次代を担う若者たちにさせるわけにはいかなかった。これが最後の任務になるであろう予感とともに、諸君は千人の人々とともに船に乗り、Achelonへ向け旅立った。
You decided. There is no chance to return, so you should take it, not the younger one taking future. You and a thousand people leave for Achelon, with a premonition that will be a last job.
