Maker Faire Singapore 2017- Important Information

Please note the following information about important logistics for Maker Faire Singapore 2017.

Faire Layout

The Faire layout has been further updated from the earlier version and can be downloaded at https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B7SYj-AL9ElPYkVVRTA0RUZWT2s?usp=sharing.  Some changes have been made based on Makers request. Please double check your locations on the maps The Faire is divided into six zones at Science Centre Singapore, as follows:

1.       Carpark Area (outdoor)

2.       Hall A (indoor)

3.       Near McDonalds (indoor, non aircon)

4.       The Annexe (indoor)

5.       The Marquee (small portion outdoors, rest indoors)

6.       Western Entrance (outdoor)

7.       An overall map (indicating the location of your zone in the building)

Please note that there are a few additional modifications with the ALP school booth locations. These will be updated in the next few days. In the meantime, you can contact your respective school SEs for clarifications.

Setup

Setup timings are from 2pm to 6.30pm on 21st July and 8.00am to 10.am on 22nd July. All exhibits must be ready by 10am on 22nd July. Please work backwards to determine when you need to setup. Let us know if you need to start setting up earlier.

 

Maker Registration. 

Maker Registration is available during the setup timings on 21st July and 22nd July at the Information counter in front of Zone 5. Maker registration is compulsory for all makers. Please report to the information counter to collect the following

1.       Your welcome pack containing certificates and complimentary tickets

2.       Your locker padlock

 

Complimentary tickets

The number of complimentary tickets per maker/ group has been worked out based on the number of booths taken by the group and is listed below.

Number of complimentary tickets per day: 6

Total number of complimentary tickets for the two days of Maker Faire SG: 12

 

The complimentary tickets provided includes admission to the makers and are not date specific.

 

The welcome pack for the group can be collected in advance from 14th July onwards during office hours (9am to 5pm) from Science Centre Singapore. This will be useful if the makers in your booths are taking shifts during the period as they need a pass to enter the Faire. The passes will be in the form of wrist tags.

 

Student makers (schools, ITEs, Polys are eligible to collect more maker tags if required. Please email mf.singapore@gmail.com with the number of tags required)

 

Booths

We will provide a table and two chairs within a 2m x 2m floor area as a standard set-up per booth. There will also be one electrical socket point.  Table size is 1.2m by 0.6 meters, There is no lockable cabinet under the table. Each booth will be given a locker to store your valuables.

 

However, if you have large valuables that can be moved from your exhibition, items can be stored in Annexe Hall 2 at Science Centre Singapore. Annexe Hall 2 is located next to Zone 5. The storage area will only be open from 6.15pm to 7.00pm on 21st and 22nd July and will be open from 8 am to 9am on 22nd July and 8.30am to 9am on 23rd July.  All indoors areas will be locked after the Faire closes and security is available.

 

 

Signage:  We will be providing an A4 descriptor for the booth/ Area, but you are free to use your own form of signages (pull-up banners, standees, easels) to indicate what your booth is doing.  All signages must be contained within your allocated booth space, and cannot be set up along the aisles.

 

WIFI is available in Zones 4 and 5. Wieless@SG is available in other zones.

 

Food

There will be no lunch provided during the event. F&B options are available at Science Centre Singapore and across the street at J Cube and surrounding food courts.

 

Water

Water dispensers are available throughout the Science Centre. Please bring your own water bottle

 

Volunteers

We have a small number of volunteers for Maker Faire Singapore. If you need the help of a volunteer to watch your booth while you are giving a workshop, please let us know.

 

Parking

Parking will be at your own expense for the duration of the MF Singapore, including load-in and tear-down.  We recommend that you and your co-Makers take public transportation to the Maker Faire venue.

 

Large Vehicles

If your exhibit requires that you drive into the loading/ unloading area, we recommend that all heavy vehicles exit the area by 21st July, 4.30pm.

 

Safety

Maker Faire Singapore is a family friendly event. Please note the following:

1.       Usage of sharp instruments by children to be done under adult supervision

2.       Any dangerous demonstrations, heat source etc have to be placed a distance from the public

3.       No loose electric wires.

 

What we need from you!
