Back to the reproductions
again, with a very famous image by the Rimpa school
designer Ogata Korin (nobody could accuse me of not
having good taste!)
This also was carved on another of those
woodblocks from Saeki-san, and pulling it out of
storage to have another look at it just now, I see
that he really hadn't scrimped when letting me have
them - the wood is absolutely superb. What a waste
it was!

This is another case where my carving skill ran
way way ahead of my printing skill (although truth
to tell, you could say that about just about every
single print I have ever made ...). I know what I
wanted to make - a deep blue night sky with
a silvery glowing moon hanging there, but I had no
idea at all how to go about creating it. I'm a bit
more experienced these days, so maybe I should have
another go at printing some of these old blocks ...
