Finally ... after working down here for nearly a year, I've found some time to do a bit more construction. I'm determined to get the room 'closed in' before the cold weather comes back again ...

It has meant stealing three days from the printmaking schedule, but three days is plenty of time for lots of progress!

Before the back walls can be insulated, the electrical outlets and wiring has to be done. There are two circuits available to me down here, one I've dropped through the stair hole on a temporary extension cord, and one that was originally drilled down through the concrete ceiling near the door. I cut into it, put a junction box in, and ran cable for a few outlets on the south wall, a row of light fixtures on that same wall, and a track light on the ceiling.

These Japanese electrical fixtures are all contained in extremely small 'boxes', so I needed to use an extra one for the cable junctions. The circuit for the ceiling lights will have two-way switches - one at the door, and one at the bottom of the stairs.

The boxes for the wall plugs are easy ...

... as are the ones for the small wall light fixtures. The white cord isn't 'electrical', it's speaker cable. No wires running all across this room once I'm done!
