I've been calling this my 'printing platform', but this is my carving bench you see in place! Well, that's just what the schedule is this week - I'm currently wearing my carving hat ... not my printing hat. Actually, just where I will be doing the carving is still an open question. After this printing alcove is done, I'll turn around and finalize the plan for the main part of the room; I'm still a bit undecided about just what to do with the carving bench - build a special place to put it, or let it 'share' this alcove with the printing tools.

But anyway, here it is for now. You can see where I have opened one of the platform panels to make a comfortable place to sit while I work.

Boots seems to have mixed feelings about this room - when I bring her down to show her around, she sits on her cushion for a while, but she doesn't stay long ... she doesn't seem comfortable here yet. We'll see how her attitude changes in the future, when this is the only warm room in the house!

After a week or so of printmaking work, time to get those tools out of the way and get back to construction. It's now October, and starting to get chilly down here! Next step is to finish off this outer wall ... and that means more of the dense insulation.

I think there is now more insulation in this one small wall than in the entire rest of the house!

Then of course, plywood screwed on top. This has now made a very large difference in the 'feel' of the room; when the windows are shut, there is almost no sound at all coming from outside. It feels quite strange to sit there looking at the river flowing by, and yet not hear a thing!
