Here is the form for the footings for the interior wall that will stand just inside the concrete back wall. (The ripped-up floorboards are getting re-cycled for this job ...)

This house is basically built into a steep cliff, and behind the concrete is mountain. There are small stains here and there on the wall that show traces of damp. It seems pretty well made, and I don't expect any actual water to come through, but there is no question that this ventilation space is necessary.
