Tokyo 2010 Exhibition
(Gallery Ohmi, Ginza Tokyo)

Welcome to the 2010 Exhibition page! If you have a good 'net connection, please have a look at the video here, but if the download is too heavy for you, you can at least peruse the photo collection ...

A short 'tour' of the 2010 exhibition ....
(14 minutes ... )

Photos ...

And here are a few snapshots taken just as we were finishing up the setting. We'll start with the view from the street; this is a very narrow building. I can't quite reach both walls at the same time, but it's close!

Just inside the door, on the right, are the four prints from the 'Beauties of Four Seasons' set I made a few years ago.

Once you get past that 'distraction', you meet the first group of four prints from the just-finished 'My Solitudes' series. These are the 'river' group, one from each season, with the 'forest' group just behind them. The accompanying small text panels are single paragraphs clipped from the appropriate book chapters, the parts that help people to understand what the scene represents. (As if they couldn't tell from looking at it!)

Over on the opposite wall is the final group of four ... 'seacoast'

Next to those is the display explaining to people just what this series was about: David taking his little tent to the three places once in each season, and sitting there silently, no camera, no watch, no distractions ... for 24 hours each time. Some sample books are here, and they can see what the complete set in its wooden case looks like. And of course, there are order forms on the table ...

Down at the back end of the room are some tables with a real mish-mash of stuff: single prints from my Mokuhankan collection, my eBook CDs, the story collections, and some of the Gift Prints ...

And opposite that is the scroll print from a few years back, and a fat browser book with a selection of prints from all the different sets that I've made over the past 20-odd years ...

Back up near the door - we skipped past it when we came in - is the display for the upcoming series 'Mystique of the Japanese Print'. There is a proof of the first print, all set up in the new box, which just arrived from the makers on Sunday morning, a few hours before setup time. (The famous Japanese 'just in time' system at its best!)

Together with the sample are the explanatory pamphlets and the order forms.

The first print looks great under this light - it has plenty of karazuri embossing, and just jumps out at you. I think the orders for this set are going to be strong this week! At only $35 per month to subscribe, it's a very good bargain, and people are reacting very well to that ...

So that's a quick tour ... thanks for dropping by!
