The Testarossa
Koenig Competition is one
of the wildest tuned TR's. The engine is tweaked up by two turbo chargers and one
supercharger. The earlier version produced about 800 hp, and 1000hp version was
released later. |
The model shown here is basically the
Fujimi kit, but F40-like wing was replaced with a scratchbuilt Koenig wing to give a
different look. The paint was Gunze Mr. Color spray paint, and a gloss coat was not
used for this project. The paint surface was sanded and polished with Tamiya
products as usual. |
Koenig also made the convertible version,
and Fujimi released the kit also. However, the model shown here is converted from
the coupe kit, and the rear section was modified by using plastic sheet. |
The engine was taken from a scrapped Tamiya Testarossa kit, and the turbo
and supercharger details were added to the engine. The engine cover was vacuum
formed by using a master made of balsa wood. |
Gunze's Mr. Color lacquer-based paint
was custom mixed to represent the body color, and Gunze's Mr. Color spray was used to
protect the base coat. |
