Doubleday Science Fiction

１９４０年代後半からＳＦ専門出版社が次々と出現し、ハードカバーＳＦの出版点数が急激に増えだした。しかし大手出版社が本格的にＳＦの出版に乗り出したのは１９５０年以降で、ハードカバーではDoubleday社が、ペーパーバックではBallantine BooksとAce Booksが代表的なところ。Doubleday社は1949年から表紙にDoubleday Science Fictionと銘打ち数多くの名作を出版している。独特のマークは1960年代初めまで使われていたが、その後なくなってしまった。以下御紹介するものは、マークのついたもの。Bradburyは、「火星年代記」で成功してから「刺青の男」、「太陽の黄金の林檎」、「メランコリーの妙薬」などではマークを外してしまった。また、Paul French (Isaac Asimov) などの少年物は除いた。
