Erythronium japonicum(family: Liliaceae)

Japanese name: Katakuri

This plant grows at the shade of trees, throughout the country.Many old Japanese poems, which admire the beautty of this flower are left. In old days they made starch from the root of this plant, but nowadays starch maybe made from potato. But in Japan if we say Katakuri it normary means starch-flour.

17/Apr/'99 Mt. Oike Suzuka-range not blooming near the peak,but blooming at mountainside
03/Apr./'99 Ena Gifu-pref. Blooming as colony, but a little bit north to this place not bloom yet. (photo1)
22/March/'99 Nishikawa Toyohasi Aichi  a little bit earlier to see
29/March/'98 Nishikawa Toyohashi Aichi filly bloom
29/Apr/'96 Mt. Fujiwara Suzuka-range fully bloom near the peak
07/Apr/'96 Kourankei Aichi-pref blooming fully at the shade of Iimori-hill (photo2)
